Universal: LapLok is a universal lock that can be used to secure any type of laptop or tablet. Additionally, secure belongings such as backpacks and purses.

Reminder: Refrain from adhering LapLok's Arm Mount to any device vents or cases.

How does the LapLok connect to my laptop?

LapLok connects to your device via the Arm Mount. The Arm Mount is semi-permanently adhered to the bottom of your device via the strongest 3M adhesive glue. This creates an incredibly strong bond between the Arm Mount and your device. It is semi-permanent- meaning you can remove it if LapLok is no longer needed. (Caution: it is a one time use product and cannot be reattached). The Arm Mount then rotates out from the bottom of your device and the end can be inserted into the mouth of the LapLok. The LapLok clamps down on the end of the Arm Mount and the table/surface simultaneously. It can then be locked to the table/surface using your unique PIN code. Does LapLok support my existing cable lock?

Yes, LapLok can integrate with your current cable lock by still attaching it to your laptop port. This innovative approach of combining "smart" technology with traditional locking methods can enhance laptop security. LapLok is meant to be used as a standalone lock and does not require an additional cable lock to secure belongings. It's worth noting that only about 50% of laptops currently available on the market come with a built-in locking slot that cable locks require for usage.

 

What happens if my laptop is stolen while using LapLok?

After extensive research and legal consultations, we don't offer an extended warranty that guarantees reimbursement in the case of theft. In reality, no anti-theft solution can provide foolproof protection, as any security measure can be bypassed with sufficient time, tools, and expertise. LapLok prioritizes practicality and common-sense usage, which should be considered when utilizing our products.

Is LapLok truly a secure anti-theft solution?

Absolutely! With over 20 years of experience in anti-theft and security, we ensure that our products withstand attempts by opportunistic thieves. However, it's essential to recognize that every security product can be overcome with the right resources. We always advise exercising caution in high-risk situations.

Does LapLok cause damage to tables?

We've extensively tested LapLok on various table surfaces. Under normal conditions, LapLok does not cause significant damage to tables thanks to our custom-designed, soft yet durable rubber padding on the clamp's foot, providing a secure grip.

Can LapLok be used with laptop cases and tablets?

We don't recommend using LapLok with laptop cases, as our internal testing has shown that in a snatch-and-grab scenario, attaching LapLok to a case could result in the case breaking off. However, LapLok is compatible with tablets, making it an ideal solution for trade shows or stations where tablet usage is required.

How do I register my new Lock/Unlock Code?

1. Go to https://reset.laplok.com
2. Create a LapLok Profile by entering your name, email address, LapLok serial number (found at the bottom of your LapLok).
3. You will then get a 4-Digit Verification Code. Once you enter the 4-Digit Verification Code, choose your new unique PIN Code.

How do I change my unique PIN Code after requesting a new code on https://reset.laplok.com?

1. First, ensure your LapLok is unarmed, as the Lock/Unlock Code can only be changed when unarmed.
2. Press and hold the Lock Button. When you see the Green LED blink twice, this indicates that the Lock/Unlock Code can be changed.
3. Within 10 seconds, enter your new Lock/Unlock Code, then press the Lock Button.
4. Green LED will blink 3 times for successful Lock/Unlock Code change. If the change is unsuccessful, the Red LED will blink 3 times.

What if I forgot my unique PIN Code?

1. Go to https://reset.laplok.com and login to your LapLok profile.
2. After logging in, you will receive a unique, device-specific code to your email address or phone number.
3. Enter the code on your LapLok.
4. Your LapLok’s Lock/Unlock Cod will then reset to the factory code of 1-1-1. When you see the green LED blink 3 times, that means there was a successful reset.
5. You can now create a new Lock/Unlock Code using the instructions in the “Changing the Lock/Unlock Code” section of the instruction manual.

How do I register my LapLok serial number on the website?

Go to https://reset.laplok.com to bring you to the registration page.

Input your name, e-mail address, phone number, and 5-Digit Device Serial Number found at the bottom of your LapLok

A 4-Digit Verification Code will be sent to the phone number and e-mail you entered.

Enter the 4-Digit Verification Code into the LapLok website’s registration page.

Choose and enter a 3-5 Digit Lock/Unlock Code you would like to use with your LapLok per instructions on Step 4.

Write your 3-5 Digit Lock/Unlock Code on the inside of the lever.

Save your Lock/Unlock Code somewhere safe.

How do I adjust the volume of my alarm?

1. Press the Lock Button then press and hold the (1) Button for 3 seconds. When you see the Green LED blink twice, this indicates that you can now adjust the alarm volume.
2. Within 10 seconds, press the (1/2) Button for high, the (3/4) Button for medium, the (5/6) Button for low, or the (7/8) Button for no sound.
3. Green LED will blink twice when successfully changed.

What type of battery does LapLok require and what is the duration of LapLok's battery life?

LapLok is equipped with standard button-cell lithium batteries, two CR 2032 Batteries, designed to function for approximately five years under typical usage conditions. We define typical usage as three hours per week with the siren sounding twice a year. The duration of LapLok's battery life depends on its usage.

How do I know when to change my LapLok batteries?

When your LapLok needs new batteries, your LapLok’s Red LED will blink 5 times. The batteries will last approximately 2 weeks before they become too weak to arm your LapLok.

  We recommend replacing the battery as soon as possible.
 

How do I change my LapLok batteries?

1. When your LapLok needs new Batteries, the Red LED will blink 5 times.
2. To replace the Batteries, unscrew the four Screws on the top, and one Screw on the bottom.
3. Open the Case.
4. Carefully remove the old Batteries and put in new ones.
5. Test to see if your new Batteries are functioning by checking if the buttons work.
6. If they are not, ensure that the new Batteries are correctly inserted.
7. Put the Case back on your LapLok and re-insert all the Screws.

Does LapLok offer a warranty?

We provide a 1-year limited warranty to address any product-related concerns. Please be aware that all LapLok returns undergo investigation to determine the root cause of the issue, aiming to prevent similar occurrences in the future. It's important to note that damages resulting from user negligence, such as water damage or an accidental drop, are NOT covered under this warranty.

What if I am not satisfied with my LapLok purchase?

We offer a hassle-free 30-day return policy for your satisfaction. If your order arrives damaged, we'll promptly replace it within this period.

Simply contact our customer service hotline at 1-855-558-7565 to request a Replacement Form, or email us at returns@laplok.com within 30 days of receiving your LapLok. Please ensure to include photos as evidence of the return shipment.

How long does it typically take to receive a replacement device?

Once we have received the defective device, you can anticipate receiving the replacement within 10 to 14 business days.

Does LapLok void my computer warranty?

No, we have inquired with several manufacturers. Because we are on the laptop’s exterior (like a sticker), we do not affect its operation. However, you must not install the arm strap over the laptop vents to prevent overheating.
